The Adventure:  Trip from Washington to Las Vegas

The Adventurers: Fletch, Mike and Me

Time Frame: 4 days in July, 1998

Circumstances: I had just arrived in WA to hang out with some friends.  Fletch and Mike just happened to be in town, heading down from Alaska, on their way to Las Vegas.  I hooked up with them and went back down south to Las Vegas. A few days later, Scott McClure flew down to Vegas, picked me up, and we flew back up to Seattle.


Highlights

Driving through the Redwood Forest in Northern California

Celebrating Mike's birthday by hanging out in a strange bar in some small town in Northern California. drinking beer, playing pool, and watching country music videos.

Sleeping by the side of the road in Northern California

Driving up to Tahoe, swimming in some freezing river.

Hitting 110 degrees as we dropped down into Owens Valley

Sleeping on my grandparent's lawn

Looking for the lowest point in Death Valley, getting mixed up, and ending up at 8000'

Hitting 113 degrees in Death Valley at 8:00 am

Swimming in some reservoir in the Nevada desert

Climbing over fence to get down into Devil's Hole and look at strange fish

Breaking Federal Law by climbing over fence

Passing by an abandoned brothel in Crystal Nevada, a town that was not even on our map

Searching out cheap food, free drinks, and 10¢ roulette
