On the summit of Mt. San Gorgonio

In the summer of 1998 I once again found my self hiking up Mt. San Gorgonio. On this trip I traveled with Mike and my sister Madeleine. In the summer, with the trails clear, Mt. San Gorgonio is a basic hike. Our group went slow and easy, taking in the sights and having fun. We spent a great night camped at high creek, though no one slept overly well. The next morning we hit the trail early and were on the summit at 9:30, a good hour before any of the other hikers would make it up there. We spent a half-hour on the summit, taking pictures and feeding the squirrels, and then headed down. Madeleine, who had never backpacked or climbed before, did incredibly well.
