On the Summit of Guadalupe Peak, 8749'

Guadalupe Peak is the highest point in Texas, which is not saying much. Here are the instructions for climbing it: Step 1) Put on shoes, Step 2) Walk.

Getting to the top of Guadalupe Peak is not overly difficult. While I was on the summit a family of 9 arrived up there. The oldest son, a freshman in college, was packing up the youngest child, a three year old, in one of those child carrier backpacks. All the kids in-between made it up the mountain under their own power.  Guadalupe Peak is not the most difficult hike in the world, but it is still cool. The summit is well defined and affords some great views of rock cliffs and walls. If you are in the area you might as well hike it and put a notch in your belt for hitting the highest point in Texas (Hee Haw!)
